Wasted Youth group exhibition.
Las Naves. Centro de Creación Contemporánea.
Curated by Marta Moreira and Daniel Borrás. Valencia, Spain. 2015.

A music-themed photography and video exhibition conceived as a contemporary generational self-portrait of urban subcultures.

Through the lens of an antiquated digital video camera, Fernando Gimeno artfully employs a fisheye lens, casting an enchanting spell of distortion and diffusion upon each frame. The viewer is beckoned to navigate this captivating dreamscape, a journey that spans sixty-eight successive nights, each photograph bearing witness to the passage of a day.

The symbiotic dance between these images and the artist's sonic endeavors during that juncture yields a harmonious fusion of mediums. The temporal intricacies of electronic music production intersect with
the visual realm, enlivened by loops and subtle modulations that conjure
a trance-like cadence.

This rhythmicity resonates deeply with the introspective domains of ritualistic music, unfurling a canvas upon which contemplation and sensory engagement intertwine.

The krautrock band Jupiter Lion recognizes the symbiotic resonance of these images with their very own auditory opus. Their request to feature this visual tapestry within the folds of their vinyl ''Brighter'' curated by BCore records, reflects an organic unity of creative spirits.

A subsequent invitation to unveil the original pieces within the artistic tapestry of the exhibition 'Wasted Youth' underscores the cultural synergy at play. This curated confluence of music-infused photography and videos serves as a modern-day time capsule, a generational self-portrait of urban subcultures caught in the throes of contemporary existence.

The artwork encapsulates a metamorphic juncture in the artist's voyage, where technology intertwines with artistic reverie, where beats and imagery conspire to render a narrative that transcends the boundaries of medium. The 'spheres of light' stand as luminous testaments to this poignant juncture, inviting viewers to tread the path of introspection while dancing to the rhythm of visual and auditory resonance.
